Immanuel
Emmanuel
“God is with us.”
Therefore The Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14 KJV

The LORD Himself was to give “a sign” to Israel, which was to come from ‘the line of David’; and this is the sign: The Messiah is to be born of a virgin.
The virgin birth of our Savior signifies both the divine Power and Purity with which He shall be brought into the world,—that He shall be a extraordinary person, for He shall not be born by ordinary generation,—and that He shall be “a holy thing”, not stained with the common pollutions of the human nature, therefore incontestably fit to have the throne of his father David given him." Now this, though it was to be accomplished above 500 years after, was a most encouraging sign to the house of David.
The unbelief of man cannot make the Promise of God of no effect.
Immanuel — God with us [with us is God] (see Matt.1:23). In the Old Testament it occurs only in Isaiah 7:14 and 8:8.

There are several prophecies in Scriptures which point directly to The Savior. Let’s look at this one foretold by Prophet Micah; prophecy of ‘A Ruler to Come from Bethlehem’:
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be Ruler in Israel; Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Therefore will He give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
And He shall stand and feed in the Strength of The Lord, in the Majesty of The Name of The Lord His God; and they shall abide: for now shall He be great unto the ends of the earth.
Mic 5:2-4 KJV

This prophecy of our Savior foretells that, Bethlehem Ephrathah, a small Judean village, was to be the birthplace of Zion’s King and He will be our Peace.
Why is Judah chosen besides the other tribes of Israel for the fulfillment of this prophecy?
The answer is found in Genesis 49:10
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto Him shall the gathering of the people be.
KJV
Bethlehem was a town where David lived.
Isaiah’s prophecy of The Savior says:
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 KJV

The Child was to bring good tidings to Zion, and when He is grown up will tend His flock like a shepherd—“The Good Shepherd” Who gathers the lambs in His arms.
The baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger—Jesus is the fulfillment of this prophecy.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ The Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Luke 2:11-12 KJV

Angel Gabriel said to Mary:
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luke 1:31KJV
The name Jesus; the Greek form of Joshua [Hebrew]-means “Jehovah is Salvation". He is the human-divine Son of God, born of a virgin; our Savior, our Deliverer and ‘Help of Jehovah’.

Joseph thought to himself that Mary’s pregnancy was by another man, hence he only knew her to be a virgin, and so in regard to the Law concerning divorce in Deut 24:1-4 he intended to secretly issue her a ‘certificate of divorce’.

While he thought on these things, an Angel of The Lord spoke to Joseph in a dream and says to him:
“… Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of The Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.”
Matt 1:20-21 KJV

The Child is of The Holy Ghost.
Dominion rests on His shoulders.
He came to save His people from their sins.
He is very great, and is called The Son Of The Highest (Lk.1:32).
He brought unto us justification that brings Life.
And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of His Kingdom there shall be no end (Luke 1:33 KJV).

Names & Special Remarks Given to All The People Of GOD

Names & Special Remarks
Given to
All The People Of GOD
Our heritage, our destiny, our authority and our identity in GOD’s Family and His Kingdom by divine Covenant are accentuated in the Names & Remarks He has given to us.

Sons of God
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ
have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Galatians 3:26-27 NIV

No man is a child of God by circumcision, nor by any observance of the Mosaic Law.
In Christ Jesus we live and grow as children and as we receive more care, nourishment and training by The Spirit we mature into sons of God in Christ.

The exalted position of "sons of God" is explained in verse 27 to involve a living union with Christ brought about by being baptized into Christ. This is the baptism of The Holy Spirit, which according to Paul (1 Cor. 12:12-13) joins all believers to Christ.
For as many as are led by The Spirit of God,
they are the sons of God.
Rom.8:14 KJV

Because the sons of God are led by The Spirit Of God, they cannot live according to the sinful nature (see v.13).
We have received The Spirit of Sonship
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received The Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
Rom 8:15-16 NIV

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Ghost
The Holy Spirit is The Third Person of the Godhead. He is the first Person to be revealed in the Scriptures. He is the last of The Trinity to be known by us.
He is our Comforter, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Counselor, Strengthener and Standby. He is another Comforter from The Father to us; ‘a very present Help in trouble; He intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express; He advocates for us, for the forgiveness of our sins – of past, present and future; He counsels us according to the Will of The Father; He strengthens us with mighty Power in the inner man. The Holy Spirit energizes our spirit and supplies us with the necessary requirements of knowledge, wisdom and understanding. And through the Power of The Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ will raise us up on the Glorious Morning and give life to our mortal bodies.

The Holy Spirit is our ‘Consolation’.
The Holy Spirit is our ‘Support’.
The Holy Spirit is our ‘Interceder’.
The Holy Spirit is our ‘Legal Representative’
The Holy Spirit is our ‘Legal Adviser’.
The Holy Spirit is our Strength.
The Holy Spirit is our ‘Security’.

Our Heavenly Father is willing to give His Holy Spirit to those who ask Him (see Luke 11:13).

The Holy Spirit was sent by The Father in The Name Of Jesus Christ. He has no Name of His Own, but He answers to The Name Of Jesus Christ. When you call on The Name Of Jesus Christ, The Holy Ghost goes into action. Today, The Holy Ghost has come to earth in The Name Of Jesus Christ.
The Father sent The Holy Spirit in The Name Of The Son—in His place, to represent Him and act on His behalf (see John 14:26). He is The One Who fellowships with us—He communes with us (II Corinthians 13:14). In Him we share and participate in the divine Family and Kingdom of God. We partake in the divine nature of God.

At the river Jordan, The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in bodily form [physical form] like a dove (read Luke 3:22). He descended upon Him in a physical appearance like a dove. Christ Jesus is The One Who baptizes with The Holy Spirit (see John 1:3).

The Holy Spirit is The Greatest Teacher— He teaches us all things and He brings to our remembrance, the Words of Jesus (see John 14:26). He gives us the Power to witness for Jesus (Acts 1:8). Jesus was anointed with The Holy Spirit for ministry (Acts 10:38).

The Holy Spirit will imprint God’s  Law (His Covenant, His Testament ) upon our hearts and He will inscribe God’s Word on our minds [on our inmost thoughts and understanding] (read Hebrews 10:16).

JESUS CHRIST

Christ of God
And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying,
Whom say the people that I am?
They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
He said unto them, But Whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;
Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.
Luke 9:18-22 KJV

In Peter’s declaration of Who Jesus is, there is great revelation: Christ of God, means “The Anointed of God”; “The Promised Messiah".
It is matter of unspeakable comfort to us that our Lord Jesus is God's Anointed, for then He has unquestionable Authority and Ability for His undertaking; for His being anointed signifies His being both appointed to it and qualified for it. Now one would have expected that Christ should have charged his disciples, who were so fully apprized and assured of this Truth, to publish it to everyone they met with; but no, He strictly charged them to tell no man that thing yet, because there is a time for all things.
After His resurrection, which completed the proof of it, Peter stated clearly to the people of Israel, that God had made this same Jesus who they crucified, both Lord and Christ [The Anointed One] (see Acts 2:36); but as yet the evidence was not ready to be summed up, and therefore it must be concealed for a while.

The Spirit Of The Lord God is upon Me; because The Lord hath anointed me to preach Good Tidings unto the meek; He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim Liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable Year of The Lord, and The Day of Vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the Oil of Joy for mourning, the garment of Praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of Righteousness, the planting of The Lord, that He might be glorified.
Isa 61:1-3 KJV

In the season while the Son of man was still at the work of The Father here on earth—‘preaching the Good News to the poor’, restoring the lost sheep of Israel, restoring the blind, setting the captives free, and bestowing the favors of The Lord—Jesus strictly charged His disciples that they must not yet preach that he was the Christ, because the wonders that would attend his death and resurrection would be the most convincing proof of his being The Christ of God. It was by his exaltation to the Right Hand of The Father that he was fully declared to be The Christ, and by the sending of The Holy Spirit thereupon (Acts 2:33); and therefore they had to wait till that is done.

Christ of God—The Messiah, had to suffer in the hands of men; be rejected by the Jewish leaders-the elders, chief priests, and teachers of the Law-and be killed; and three days later be raised back to Life!

The LORD’s Attributes & Personality

The LORD’s Attributes & Personality
Throughout the Scriptures as in reality in life, we discover that The LORD has AWESOME ATTRIBUTES & MAJESTIC PERSONALITY.

The Messiah
The Anointed One
The word Messiah comes from a Hebrew term that means "Anointed One." Its Greek counterpart is ‘Christos’, from which the word Christ comes. Messiah was one of the titles used by early Christians to describe who Jesus was.
The One Anointed by GOD and Empowered by GOD's SPIRIT to deliver His people and establish His Kingdom. In Jewish thought, The Messiah would be The King of the Jews, a political leader who would defeat their enemies and bring in a golden era of peace and prosperity. But the true Christian knows from GOD’s Word that the term Messiah refers to JESUS CHRIST. It speaks of Jesus' role as our spiritual Deliverer, setting His people free from the power of sin, death, the grave, hell and satan.

In Old Testament times, part of the ritual of commissioning a person for a special task was to anoint him with oil. The phrase “anointed one” was applied to a person in such cases. In the Old Testament, Messiah is used more than 30 times to describe kings (2 Sam 1:14,16), priests (Lev 4:3,5,16), the patriarchs (Ps. 105:15), and even the Persian King Cyrus (Isa 45:1). The word is also used in connection with King David, who became the model of the messianic King who would come at the end of the age (2 Sam 22:51; Ps 2:2). But it was not until the time of Daniel (sixth century B.C.) that Messiah was used as an actual title of a King who would come in the future (Dan 9:25-26). Still later, as the Jewish people struggled against their political enemies, The Messiah came to be thought of as a political, military ruler.
From the New Testament we learn more about the people's expectations. They thought the Messiah would come soon to perform signs (John 7:31) and to deliver His people, after which He would live and rule forever (John 12:34). Some even thought that John the Baptist was the Messiah (John 1:20). Others said that the Messiah was to come from Bethlehem (John 7:42). Most expected the Messiah to be a political leader, a king who would defeat the Romans and provide for the physical needs of the Israelites.
According to the Gospel of John, a woman of Samaria said to Jesus, "I know that Messiah is coming." Jesus replied, "I who speak to you am He" (John 4:25-26).

In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, however, Jesus never directly referred to Himself as the Messiah, except privately to His disciples, until the crucifixion (Matt 26:63-64; Mark 14:61-62; Luke 22:67-70). He did accept the title and function of messiahship privately (Matt 16:16-17). Yet Jesus constantly avoided being called "Messiah" in public (Mark 8:29-30). This is known as Jesus' "messianic secret." He was The Messiah, but He did not want it known publicly in those days.

The Name Of The Lord is a strong tower:
the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Proverbs 18:10 KJV

Jehovah Adonai
My Sovereign God
Seen in The LORD's Covenant Promise to Abram in Genesis 15.

After this, The Word of The Lord came to Abram in a vision:
"Do not be afraid, Abram.
I am your Shield,
your very Great Reward."
Gen. 15:1 NIV

He also said to him, "I am The Lord, Who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it."
But Abram said, "O Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?"
So The Lord said to him, "Bring Me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon."

Abram brought all these to Him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other; the birds, however, he did not cut in half. Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him. Then The Lord said to him, "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions. You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a good old age. In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure."
When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces.  On that day The Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates —  the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites."
Gen 15:7-21 NIV

Adonai signifies "my director, basis, supporter, pillar, or stay"; and scarcely a more appropriate Name can be given to our God Who is the Framer and Director of every righteous Word and Action; the Basis or Foundation on which every rational hope rests; the Supporter of the souls and bodies of men, as well as of the universe in general.
[Four hundred years] when it began, when Ishmael, son of Hagar, mocked and persecuted Isaac, Gen 21:9; Gal 4:29; which fell out thirty years after the Promise, Gen 12:3; which Promise was 430 years before the Law, Gal 3:17, and four hundred and thirty years after that Promise came Israel out of Egypt, Ex 12:41.
The Lord made a Covenant with Abram which was signified by ‘a covenant sacrifice’; for as no Covenant was made without one.

The Covenant made between God and Abram was on behalf of all the families of the earth, and this Covenant is ratified by a sacrifice. By this covenant man is bound to God, and God graciously binds Himself to man—as this Covenant referred to the incarnation of Christ. Abram, both as to himself and posterity, was to partake of the benefits of it by faith, hence, faith, not works, is the only condition on which God, through Christ, forgives sins, and brings to the promised spiritual inheritance. This covenant still stands open; all the successive generations of men are parties on the one side, and Jesus is at once the sacrifice and Mediator of it. As therefore the covenant still stands open, and Jesus is still The Lamb slain before the Throne, every human soul must ratify the Covenant for himself; and no man does so but he who, conscious of his guilt, accepts the sacrifice which God has provided for him.
Reader, have you done so?
And with a heart unto God’s Righteousness continue to believe on The Son Of God. How merciful is God Almighty, Who has given to us the only Way of Salvation by providing a Savior—The One Who is The Way, The Truth And The Life. He is The Only Way of Salvation suitable to miserable, fallen, sinful man! One Who is Holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate from sinners; and Who, being higher than the heavens, raises up His faithful followers to the Throne of His Own Eternal Glory!
Dear Reader, give God the praise and avail yourself of the sin-offering which is at the door of your heart.

Christ (The Anointed One).
Divine Name given to our Lord Jesus by The Father, which showed that He was the long-awaited King and Deliverer. For centuries the Jewish people had looked for a prophesied Messiah, a deliverer who would usher in a Kingdom of Peace and Prosperity (Psa. 110; Isa. 32:1-8; Amos 9:13). Jesus was clearly identified as this Messiah in Peter's great confession, "You are The Christ, The Son Of The Living God" (Matt 16:16).

The High Calling of God-The Great Commission

We have been discussing how the Apostle Paul became a disciple of the kingdom of heaven. He gave a remarkable explanation of this in Philippians 3:10-14: that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Paul wrote this Epistle near the end of his life, and yet he claimed that he did not think he had yet attained. He was one of the greatest of all apostles, and he helped give birth to a whole new type of ministry—the apostolic missionary. He lived one of the most devoted and sacrificial lives ever recorded, and yet he did not feel that he had yet attained! Attained what?

He was not talking about salvation or eternal life. He had those the day he trusted in the cross of Jesus for his redemption. What he wrote here about attaining to the resurrection could have been translated “a better resurrection,” the same term used in Hebrews 11 for those who rejected their deliverance for the higher purposes of God. Paul was talking about what he calls in this last verse “the high calling of God.”

Like it or not, agree with it or not, everyone will not be the same in the resurrection. There is a “better resurrection,” a “high calling,” which many have seen and run the race to attain throughout the ages. Jesus taught this, as did His apostles. There are different positions in heaven such as where we will sit in relation to Him. We see it in Revelation where the great multitude stand before the throne, but those who overcome sit with Him on His throne. This revelation of the high calling in Christ is sown throughout the Scriptures.

Not all Christians perceive this high calling, and some who do have gone awry thinking they had attained it just because they were privileged to see it. Others stumble because of the pride of presuming they had attained. People fall to those same delusions over many other truths too, so just because people fall or distort does not negate the clear biblical truth. However, if we handle the truth as we should, it will not cause us to stumble or be puffed up with pride but will elevate and empower us to the greatest purpose of mankind—to love God and serve Him, compelling others to do the same. Paul’s discourse on this subject may be one of the best ever to prevent us from going to extremes with this truth.

If the Apostle Paul did not consider that he had yet attained near the end of his life, how could anyone in this life consider that they had attained? If we cannot show a greater life, greater authority, and greater fruit than the Apostle Paul (whose letters are probably still bearing more fruit than all of the ministries on earth combined), we would be the most foolish of all to claim that we have attained something he did not claim.

When we begin to see this high calling, we understand why Paul would esteem it as highly as he did. It is the greatest opportunity in all of creation. Even the angels marvel at what has been made available to mankind—that we could become the very sons and daughters of God, members of His own household, ruling with Him over the rest of creation.
The lowest subject in the kingdom will have an eternal life that is so wonderful we cannot even comprehend it. Even so, we now determine our eternal positions in the kingdom. It is important that we understand this calling. Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before Him. When we see the prize, it helps us to lay aside every encumbrance to run the race set before us. Let us keep in mind that pride will rob us of our prize.

The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit: Summary on the Gifts of The Spirit

The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit

Summary on the Gifts of The Spirit

Paul had all 9 gifts of The Spirit.
He had the gift of word of wisdom (see II Peter 3:15).
Paul through The Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said to him:
"You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of The Lord? Now the hand of The Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun."
Acts 13:10-11 NIV
He said this by the application of “word of knowledge”.
In Acts 16:16-18 Paul applied the gift of discerning of spirits.
He had the gift of tongues (see I Cor.14:18).
And of interpretation of tongues (see I Cor.14:13).
He had the gift of prophecy (I Cor.14:6).
He had the gift of faith (see I Cor.13:2).
He had the gift of healing (see Acts 14:8-10).
And as Paul preached in Greece, the Scriptures tell us,
"...there was a young man named Eutychus sitting on the window, sinking into a deep sleep;
and as Paul kept on talking, he was overcome by sleep and fell down from the third floor and was picked up dead.
But Paul went down and fell upon him, and after embracing him, he said, "Do not be troubled, for his life is in him." When he had gone back up and had broken the bread and eaten, he talked with them a long while until daybreak, and then left.
They took away the boy alive, and were greatly comforted."

Acts 20:9-12 NASU
That’s the gift of miracles.

All these [gifts, achievements, and abilities] are inspired and brought to pass by One and the Same Holy Spirit, Who apportions to each person individually exactly as He chooses. All the gifts are of One Author—The Holy Spirit.
He is The Giver of the gifts. He bestows His spiritual gifts to anyone He desires.

Just as there are original spiritual gifts, so there are counterfeits.

If we have not matured in our knowledge and use of true gifts, we will be found tragically unprepared for the confrontations of these last days.

How is the Church edified?
By the greater gifts— Revelation, Word of Knowledge, Prophecy and Word of Wisdom from The LORD.
Apostle Paul said, “…eagerly desire the greater gifts (1 Cor. 12:31 NIV).
To one there is given through The Spirit the message of Wisdom, to another the message of Knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
1 Corinthians 12:8-11 NIV

There are differences of administrations, offices, and officers to discharge them; different ordinances and institutions (see vv. 28-30), but the same Lord, who appointed all, (v. 6). There are diversities of operations, or miraculous powers (v. 10), but it is the same God that works all in all.
There are various gifts, administrations, and operations, but all proceed from one GOD, one LORD, one SPIRIT; that is, from The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost, ‘the Spring’ and ‘Origin’ of all spiritual blessings and bequests: all issue from The Same Fountain; all have The Same Author.
Some are given the knowledge of the mysteries of the Gospel, and ability to explain them, an exact understanding of the design and nature of the Christian faith.
Some others are given the skill and readiness to give advice and counsel in perplexed cases. To another faith, by The Same Spirit; that is, the faith of miracles, faith in the divine Power and Promise, whereby they were enabled to trust God in any emergency, and go on in the way of their duty, and own and profess the truths of Christ, whatever was the difficulty or danger.
To another the gift of healing, by The Holy Spirit; that is, healing the sick, either by laying on of hands, or anointing with oil, or by The Word.
To another the working of miracles; the efficacies of the divine Power, such as raising the dead, restoring the blind to sight, giving speech to the dumb, hearing to the deaf, and restoration of limbs to the lame.

Some prophets in the Bible received revelation primarily through visions, others through dreams, others by The Word of The Lord, others by discerning His Purposes in current events, others through the Scriptures, and yet others in trances. Some were caught up into Heaven so that they were not just seeing a vision—they were actually there. Some received revelations from angels and others directly from The Lord. He may speak to us one way now and the next time speak to us in an entirely different manner. He does not do this to confuse us, but to keep us seeking Him and dependent on Him.
