In Malachi He is “the Sun of Righteousness with healing in His wings.”
The Book of Malachi is the prelude to 400 years of
prophetic silence, broken finally by the words of the next prophet, John the
Baptist:
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world”
(John 1:29 KJV).
John the Baptist fulfilled Malachi's prophecy of
"the coming of the messenger who will prepare the way of the Lord"
(see Mal.3:1).
But, Malachi 3:2-5 unveils prophecy of Christ in His
Second Coming.
But who can endure the day of His coming? Who can stand when He
appears? For He will be like a refiner's fire or a launderer's soap. He will
sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify the Levites and refine
them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings
in righteousness, and the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable
to the Lord, as in days gone by, as in former years.
"So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quick
to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who
defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and
deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear Me," says the Lord Almighty.
Mal 3:2-5 NIV
The Lord will come in refining blazing fire—like a
refiner of silver, He will purify His servants, refining them like gold.
He is the Lord Almighty—the Lord of hosts
[Adonai-Tzva’ot].
The Sun of Righteousness will dawn—He will come as
the Lord of Heaven’s armies. Count on it!
For, behold, the Day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all
the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the Day that
cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them
neither root nor branch.
But unto you that fear My Name shall the Sun of Righteousness
arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves
of the stall.
And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes
under the soles of your feet in the Day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of
hosts.
Mal 4:1-3 KJV
He is called Faithful And True—with Justice He
judges and makes war. He is the Word of God—King of kings And Lord of lords.
I saw Heaven standing open and there before me was a white
horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With Justice He judges and
makes war. His eyes are like blazing
fire, and on His head are many crowns. He has a Name written on Him that no one
knows but He Himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in Blood, and His Name is
the Word of God. The armies of Heaven were following Him, riding on white
horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of His mouth comes a
sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with
an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the Wrath of God
Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh He has this Name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS (Rev 19:11-16 NIV).
