GOD’s Sovereign Choice
The offering of ‘righteous Abel’ was accepted, but
that of Cain was rejected.
Isaac inherited instead of Ishmael.
Jacob was loved by God, and later he was blessed
instead of Esau.
Joseph was God’s ‘vessel’ instead of his brothers.
Ephraim receives a greater blessing than Manasseh.
Later, transitionally, Moses himself carries on
where he becomes God’s spokesman instead of his older brother, Aaron.
David also achieves greatness over the shoulders of
his brothers, who are older and trained as men of war.
This convey that God does not always view men as men
judge themselves.
Men’s judgments can be swayed by appearance,
tradition or a combination of both. But God looks into the hearts of men and
judges by what He finds there.
In the saga of the second or subsequent son, God
shows that He is sovereign and He judges after the heart.
