The Fruit of the Spirit and the
Gifts of the Spirit
After “The New Birth” comes “The Fruit of the
Spirit.”
Our Lord Jesus said, "Make a tree good and its fruit will be
good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by
its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For
out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good
things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things
out of the evil stored up in him (Matt 12:33-35 NIV).
What makes the tree good is the fruit of the Spirit;
the man is transformed by the experience of rebirth. The good tree is the
result of a good seed; when a man is born again and receives the Fruit of the
Spirit, ‘good works’ will follow.
For by Grace are ye
saved through Faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the Gift of God:
Not of works, lest any
man should boast.
For we are His
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them.
Eph 2:8-10 KJV
The Fruit of the Spirit is found in Galatians 5:22-23:
But the Fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering,
Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance: against such there is
no law (KJV).
The nine Gifts of The Spirit are:
For to one is given by the Spirit the Word of Wisdom; to another
the Word of Knowledge by the same Spirit;
To another Faith by the same Spirit; to another the Gifts of
Healing by the same Spirit;
To another the Working of Miracles; to another Prophecy; to
another Discerning of spirits; to another Divers kinds of Tongues; to another
the Interpretation of Tongues:
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing
to every man severally as he will.
1 Cor 12:8-11 KJV
There should be unity in the diversity of the Gifts
of the Spirit in the Church of Christ.
With Love comes
Wisdom
With Joy in the Lord we receive
Knowledge
The Peace which surpasses all understanding is
accomplished by
Faith
Longsuffering is associated with
The Gift of Healing
Gentleness gains
access into
The Gift of Miracles
Goodness is
a virtue with right of entry into
Prophecy
Faith is
reliant on the Holy Spirit for victory in warfare and
Discerning of spirits
Meekness is
a quality required for the gift of
Divers kinds of Tongues (Heavenly
language)
Temperance is
self-restraint; it is soberness which can receive the ability for
Interpretation of Tongues
