OBADIAH
In Obadiah He is “our Savior and the Possessor of the Eternal Kingdom.”
Christ is seen in Obadiah as the Judge of the
nations (15-16), the Savior of Israel (17-20), and the Possessor of the Eternal
Kingdom (21).
The Judge of the nations shall execute divine
Judgment upon the Earth in a time scripturally noted as: “the Day of the Lord.”
"The Day of the Lord is near for all nations.
As you have done, it will be done to you;
your deeds will return upon your own head.
Just as you drank on My holy hill,
so all the nations will drink continually;
they will drink and drink
and be as if they had never been.
Obadiah 15-16 NIV
Before ‘Christ’s Universal Reign’ begins, there
shall be a day of reckoning in which the heathen and the ungodly of the Earth
will receive the reward for their wickedness. They will be served with a
measure of Wrath of the Righteous Judge—they will drink and gulp it down and be
as if they had never existed.
The proud look of man will be abased, and the
loftiness of man will be humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that Day.
The Second Coming of Christ will usher in the War of
Armageddon; the time of the doom of the beast and the false prophet, and the
imprisonment of satan. The Millennial Reign, then, takes place; afterwards
shall be the Great Day of the Wrath of the Lord Almighty.
I saw Heaven standing open and there before me was a white
horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and
makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on His head are many crowns. He
has a Name written on Him that no one knows but He Himself. He is dressed in a
robe dipped in Blood, and His Name is the Word of God. The armies of Heaven
were following Him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and
clean. Out of His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the
nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the
winepress of the fury of the Wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and on His
thigh He has this Name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud
voice to all the birds flying in midair, "Come, gather together for the
Great Supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and
mighty men, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and
slave, small and great."
Then I saw the beast and the kings of the Earth and their armies
gathered together to make war against the Rider on the horse and His army. But
the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the
miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had
received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were
thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest of them were killed with the sword
that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged
themselves on their flesh.
Rev 19:11-21 NIV
The Savior of Israel shall return, and upon Mount
Zion shall be deliverance—upon Mount Zion shall be Israel's final triumph.
But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be
holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph
a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and
devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the
Lord hath spoken it.
And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they
of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and
the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall
possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of
Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
Obadiah 17-20 KJV
At the Second Advent of the Messiah, there shall be
restoration for Israel—the mountains of Israel shall be blessed, and the Lord
God will restore their fortunes.
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name
of the Lord shall be delivered: for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be
deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call
(Joel 2:32 KJV).
Obadiah 21 refers to the Lord as the Possessor of
the Kingdom of Israel— it refers to Christ Jesus as the Possessor of the Eternal
Kingdom.
Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion
to govern the mountains of Esau.
And the kingdom will be the Lord's.
Obadiah 21 NIV
Right from the days of the patriarchs, the kings,
the judges, the rulers, and the deliverers of Israel until this day; only those
who are totally surrendered to the Divine Will, Purpose, and Direction of God emerge
victorious and ascend unto Mount Zion (Heb. Mount Tziyon)— the
kingship over Israel always belong to Adonai. He is the Blessed and Only
Potentate, the King of kings and the Lord of lords (I Tim. 6:15).
The authority and power of leadership exercised by
each of the monarchs and rulers over Israel—as led by the Sovereign God, points
to the Eternal Dominion of Christ.
The Lord is the Ruler of the Universe.
