In Haggai He is “the
Restorer of our lost heritage.”
The Messiah is clearly portrayed in the person of
Zerubbabel.
In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, will I take thee, O
Zerubbabel, My servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the Lord, and will make
thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts.
Hag 2:23 KJV
Jeconiah and his brothers were among the Israelites
carried away to Babylon. After they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah’s wife
gave birth to Shealtiel, and afterwards, when Shealtiel grew up and became a
man, his wife gave birth to Zerubbabel—who became the center of the Messianic
line and was like a signet ring, sealing the two branches which connects from
the top—King David, through two of his sons: King Solomon and Nathan. These two
separate branches runs through Zerubbabel, down to Joseph (the husband of Mary,
of whom was born Jesus Who is called Christ), and also down to Mary.
The one line is seen in the genealogy of Christ in
Matthew 1, and the other is seen in Christ’s lineage in Luke 3.
The Lord is “the Restorer of our lost heritage.”
Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye
blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation
of the world.
Matt 25:34 KJV
