First
Warning –
Danger of Neglect of GOD’s Word
The danger of neglect of GOD’s Word is
drifting away from GOD.
Therefore
we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest
at any time we should let them slip (Heb. 2:1 KJV)
Second
Warning –
Danger of Hardening of the Heart
The danger of hardening of the heart is
rebellion.
Wherefore
(as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear His voice,
Harden
not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the
wilderness:
When
your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw my works forty years.
Wherefore
I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart;
and they have not known my ways.
So
I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
(Heb.
3:7-11 KJV)
Third
Warning –
Danger of Loosing Faith
The danger of loosing faith is
loosing the profession (confession) of your faith—the Testimony of Jesus
which you bear.
We
overcome by the Blood of the Lamb by which we enter the Holy of Holies, and we
overcome by the Word of our testimony of the Word, and of our testimony of
Jesus (see Rev. 12:11).
Fourth
Warning –
Danger of Drawing Back
The danger of drawing back is to
fall-short of grace.
For
if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth,
there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But
a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall
devour the adversaries.
He
that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Of
how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath
trodden under foot The Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant,
wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto The
Spirit of grace? (Heb. 10:26-29 KJV)
Now
the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no
pleasure in him (Heb. 10:38 KJV)
Fifth
Warning –
Danger of Refusing GOD
The danger of refusing GOD is sudden
judgment.
See
that ye refuse not Him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused Him
that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from Him
that speaketh from heaven:
Whose
voice then shook the earth: but now He hath promised, saying, Yet once more I
shake not the earth only, but also heaven (Heb. 12:25-26 KJV)
“…
our God is a consuming fire” (Heb. 12:29)
Key Lessons
1.
We must listen very
carefully to the truth (what is revealed to us and the things which we have
heard), or we may drift away from GOD.
2.
We are "made
partakers of Christ" if we hold "the beginning of our
confidence" steadfast unto the end.
What does this mean?
We must be faithful to
the end, trusting GOD just as firmly as when we first believed.
Only those that pass
this test will share in all that belongs to Christ Jesus.
3.
To avoid loosing our
faith, we must hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering
4.
Cast not away your
confidence which has "great recompence of reward."
Do not cast away your
confidence in The LORD, no matter what happens.
Patience and endurance
are what you need now!
The just shall live by
faith.
But The LORD will have
no pleasure in anyone who turns away.
His soul has no
pleasure in the man that draws back.
5.
'Things on earth' will
be shaken, so that only eternal things will remain!
The Kingdom of GOD
which we receive, cannot be shaken; it cannot be destroyed.
Let us therefore be
thankful—pleasing GOD in worship; with holy fear and awe.
