THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Part 45
The New Heaven and the New Earth
~ ~ ~
And I saw a New Heaven and a New Earth: for the first heaven and
the first earth were passed away;
and there was no more sea.
Rev 21:1 KJV
The New Heaven seen by Apostle John in this verse
refers to ‘a new sky or firmament,’ which will replace “the first heaven” (the
present firmament which blankets the Earth).
The first heaven becomes ‘the former sky,’ and then,
the New Heaven becomes ‘a new firmament.’
A new universe (space) will also be made to join
with the New Heaven.
The New Earth (with no oceans) will take the place
of “the first earth” (this physical world).
The first earth becomes ‘the former earth,’ and
then, the New Earth becomes a substitute.
In the beginning God created the Heavens and the
Earth (Gen. 1:1). The Heavens are the
universe (space) and the firmament (arch of the Earth).
This present Earth and sky are old and fading away!
Note that they are reserved for destruction by fire,
being kept for ‘the Day of Judgment’ (see II Peter 3:7). When they are consumed
by fervent heat, no doubt, the present Earth and sky will disappear, and no
longer will there exist any sea!
‘The former sky’ and ‘the former earth’ passes away—‘the
former things will not be remembered.”
"Behold, I will create
new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
Isa 65:17
When our Lord Jesus said, “Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but My Words
shall not pass away” (Matt 24:35 KJV) He spoke of the first Heaven
and the Earth.
