PSALMS
In Psalms He is “our
Shepherd and Messiah.”
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
Ps 23:1 KJV
The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind:
"You are a Priest forever, in the order of
Melchizedek."
Ps 110:4 NIV
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of
the corner.
Ps 118:22 KJV
Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord.
From the house of the Lord we bless you.
Ps 118:26 NIV
Many of the Psalms
specifically anticipate the life and ministry of Jesus Christ; the One Who came
centuries later as the promised Messiah (the Anointed One).
A “Messianic Psalm”
in some respect is “a type of Christ.” Such can be seen in:
“…He protects all His bones,
not one of them will be broken.”
Ps 34:20 NIV
“Those who hate me without reason
outnumber the hairs of my head…”
Ps 69:4 NIV
“…for zeal for Your house consumes Me,
and the insults of those who insult You fall on Me.”
Ps 69:9 NIV
Some of the Psalms
at the time of composition refer to a king or the house of David in general,
but awaits final fulfillment in Christ. Such are: Psalms 2; 45 and 72.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the
Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
1 Peter 2:25 KJV
Concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the
seed of David according to the flesh;
And declared to be the Son of God with Power, according to the
Spirit of Holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
Rom 1:3-4 KJV
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It
enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, Who went before us,
has entered on our behalf. He has become a High Priest forever, in the order of
Melchizedek.
Heb 6:19-20 NIV
Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but
fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Corner Stone;
In Whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an
holy temple in the Lord:
In Whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God
through the Spirit.
Eph 2:19-22 KJV
