PROVERBS
AND ECCLESIASTES
In Proverbs and Ecclesiastes He is “GOD’s Divine Excellent Wisdom.”
In Proverbs 8,
Wisdom is personified and seen in perfection.
"The Lord brought Me forth as the first of His works,
before His deeds of old;
I was appointed from eternity,
from the beginning, before the world began.
When there were no oceans, I was given birth,
when there were no springs abounding with water;
before the mountains were settled in place,
before the hills, I was given birth,
before He made the Earth or its fields
or any of the dust of the world.
I was there when He set the heavens in place,
when He marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
when He established the clouds above
and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
when He gave the sea its boundary
so the waters would not overstep His Command,
and when He marked out the foundations of the Earth.
Then I was the craftsman at His side.
I was filled with delight day after day,
rejoicing always in His Presence,
rejoicing in His whole world
and delighting in mankind.
Prov. 8:22-31 NIV
This Wisdom became incarnate in Christ.
In Whom are hid all the treasures of Wisdom and Knowledge.
Col 2:3 KJV
But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, Who of God is made unto us
Wisdom, and Righteousness, and Sanctification, and Redemption:
1 Cor 1:30 KJV
For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock,
and unto the Greeks foolishness;
But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the
Power of God, and the Wisdom of God.
1 Cor 1:22-24 KJV
Ecclesiastes
convincingly portrays the emptiness and perplexity of life without a
relationship with the Lord.
Only in Christ is
Ultimate Satisfaction, Joy, and Wisdom. Man’s highest good is found in the “One
Shepherd.”
The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings
like firmly embedded nails — given by one Shepherd.
Eccl 12:11 NIV
He is the Good
Shepherd Who laid down His life for the sheep, and He alone offers the gift of
Eternal Life (John 10:9-15).
