Shepherd
of My Soul
The Holy Spirit is our spiritual Shepherd.
When Jesus came to earth, He was in bodily form our
Shepherd on earth. But, after He rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven, The
Holy Spirit Who is The Comforter took the place of office of our Shepherd on
earth.
The Shepherd Psalm says:
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside
the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of
Righteousness for His Name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine
enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my
life: and I will dwell in the house of The Lord for ever.
Psalm 23 KJV
The Holy Spirit is our spiritual Shepherd, He feeds
us with spiritual food (God’s Word), guides us, and shields us from danger.
He gives new Strength.
He refreshes and restores God’s people.
The Holy Spirit is The One Who helps you do what
honors God the most. He teaches you the Way to uprightness and
right standing with God.
He helps us in this way because He is the divine
spiritual Shepherd sent to lead, guide, and nurture us here on earth—this is
why He is referred to as the Comforter (John 14:16). When we get to Heaven to
be with The Lord, once again, we shall meet Jesus, Who will lead us as our
Shepherd—He will lead us to springs of living water (see Rev. 7:17).
In John 10:11 Jesus said:
"I am The Good
Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
NIV
In verse 14, He says:
"I am The Good Shepherd; I know My sheep and My sheep know
Me
NIV
Right now on the earth, The Holy Spirit leads us “beside
the still and restful waters.” The Lord
is “The Spring Of Living Water” for us (read Jer. 2:13).
To the Samaritan woman by the well, Jesus said:
"If you knew the gift of God and Who it is that asks you
for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you Living Water."
John 4:10 NIV
On the very last day, the climax of the festival at
the temple, He stood up and said something regarding The Holy Spirit:
"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, Streams Of Living Water will
flow from within him."
John 7:37-38 NIV
The Holy Spirit—our divine Shepherd performs the
office of a Good Shepherd, therefore we need not fear any evil in the greatest
dangers and difficulties we could be in. We experience this as a benefit of His
Presence with us.
By His rod (His Word) He protects and by His staff
(His Word) He guides—in His Counsel we find comfort, and under His Protection we
find rest.
He is a wonderful Lover Who is willing to always
stay close beside you, guarding, guiding all the way.
He longs to anoint you for victory.
Make Him your welcomed Guest today; and His blessings
will overflow in your life! His unfailing Kindness shall be with you all of
your life!
Let Him be The Shepherd of your soul!
