In the Mystery of God's divine selection of
"Israel"—‘the Israel that is by faith’, the Jew and the Gentile who
have come to know Christ through the gift of Grace are engrafted together, they are “the objects
[vessels] of His Mercy”.
Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:
"Though the number of the Israelites
be like the sand by the sea,
only the remnant will be saved.
Rom 9:27 NIV
The Scriptures
reveals to us that in God’s divine Purpose and Plan for the redemption of the
remnant, a number is called out from among the Jews, and a group also from
among the Gentiles.
While the
predestined Gentiles are gaining access into God’s divine reception, a
population of the natural Jews are rejected-they stumble by the “Rock of
offence”.
What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue
righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; but Israel,
who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it. Why not? Because they
pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the
"stumbling stone."
As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes
men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in Him
will never be put to shame."
Rom 9:30-33 NIV
In this passage of
Scripture lies the solution for the transformation of lives given to
humanity—it simply is to “trust in Him”. Jesus Christ is ‘stone of elevation’
to the righteous, and “Rock of offence” to the unjust.
