The Presentation of Jesus Christ in the 66 Books of the Bible - Part 9

FIRST AND SECOND SAMUEL
In 1st and 2nd Samuel He is “the Greater Prophet.”
Samuel is a type of Christ in that he is a prophet, priest, and judge. Highly revered by the people, he brings in a new age.
The Lord made the prophetic Call to the boy Samuel when he was ministering to the Lord before Eli—Word from the Lord was rare in those days.
And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for Thy servant heareth.
1 Sam 3:10 KJV

David, likewise, was anointed when he was only a boy.
And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
1 Sam 16:12-13 KJV
David was one of the primary Old Testament portrayals of the person of Christ. He was born in Bethlehem, worked as a shepherd, and ruled as king over Israel. He is the anointed king who becomes the forerunner of the messianic King.
The New Testament specifically calls Christ “the Seed of David according to the flesh” (Rom. 1:3), and “the Root and the Offspring of David” (Rev. 22:16).

Jesus is the Greater Prophet, He said:
“Think not that I am come to destroy the Law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled.”

Matt 5:17-18 KJV
