The Third Trumpet

The Third Trumpet
Bitter Waters
The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.
Rev 8:10-11 NIV
As the third angel sounded in John’s revelation, he saw ‘a great star’ blazing like a torch, fall from the sky. King James Version states: And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters… (v.10).
In “the Third Trumpet” “a great star” falls from the second heaven. Note that “a star” in revelation or prophecy usually represent “a messenger” (read Num.24:17; Mt.2:2, 7; Rev.9:1; 22:16). Angels of Heaven are referred to as “stars” in Revelation; for instance, in chapter 9 verse 1, a ‘star’ came down from Heaven to the Earth and was given the shaft to the Abyss.
In chapter 22 verse 16, Jesus Christ Who came as Messenger of the New Covenant declared that He is “the bright Morning Star.”
Isaiah 14:12 called Lucifer “morning star.”
Since the fall of Lucifer and his angels, satan and his demons transform into “angel of light.”

Therefore, the ‘great star’ that will fall from the sky into the waters at the sounding of “the Third Trumpet” is a ‘power of darkness’—a “spiritual wickedness in high places.” “Wormwood” has power to strike a third of the world’s fresh water supply.
