“The Day Of Atonement”
The Lord said to Moses, "The tenth day of
this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny
yourselves, and present an offering made to The Lord by fire.
Lev 23:26-27 NIV
“The Day Of Atonement” is a holy
convocation unto the nation of Israel, in which they must be sober; by fasting in penitence and humility. That’s why GOD commanded
that, they must do no work on that day, because it speaks of atonement made for
GOD’s Covenant people. And on this day, they sacrificed burnt offering to The
LORD.
At the beginning of the Year they were
called by the sound of trumpet in “The Feast Of Trumpets” to shake off their
spiritual drowsiness, to search and try their ways, and to amend them: “The Day
Of Atonement” was the ninth day after this; and thus they were awakened to
prepare for that day, by sincere and serious repentance, that it might be
indeed to them ‘a day of atonement’.
Today, the Jews also refer to “the Day
of Atonement” as “Yom Kippur”—falls in
either the month of September or October each year.
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, falls
on the Hebrew calendar date of 10 Tishrei.
The divine Purpose of “The Day Of Atonement” will be
fulfilled in “The Second Coming Of Christ” when
He returns to the earth to redeem “the Elect”— GOD’s ‘chosen and sealed
Israel’, after the "perilous times" that will try “the whole world.”
"At that time the sign of The Son of Man
will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will
see The Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with Power and great Glory.
And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His
Elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
Matt 24:30-31 NIV
"When The Son of Man comes in His Glory,
and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His Throne in Heavenly Glory.
Matt 25:31 NIV
Our Lord Jesus said something very
important about His Second Coming:
“For as lightning that comes from the east is
visible even in the west, so will be the Coming of The Son of Man.”
Matt 24:27 NIV
